At the MLK Jr. Student Space, we offer a variety of monthly programs designed to create a welcoming environment for all students. These programs are led by our dedicated staff and provide opportunities to connect, learn, and grow together. Whether you’re exploring new interests, building community, or engaging in meaningful conversations, there’s something here for everyone. While many of our programs highlight and celebrate the experiences and interests of the Black community at the University of Arizona, all students are encouraged to participate, listen, and contribute to fostering understanding, allyship, and belonging across campus.

Black History Month is an annual celebration observed in various countries, notably in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, dedicated to honoring the achievements, contributions, and struggles of Black people throughout history.
AASA makes sure that every February, we take part in celebrating by showcasing the entire month.
Interested in exploring the works of some of the world’s most profound Black authors? The Black LIT Book Club is more than just a place to read, it’s a space to engage in thoughtful conversations, share perspectives, and connect with others through literature.
Each month, we feature a different book by a variety of authors whose voices, stories, and ideas reflect the richness and diversity of the Black literary tradition. Together, we’ll dive into the themes, messages, and cultural contexts behind the writing, creating space for dialogue that is both thought-provoking and inclusive.
Whether you’re deeply familiar with Black literature or just beginning to explore it, all students are welcome to join, learn, and contribute to the conversation.
